see(k)ing truth
challenge 2

what is meditation?

Meditation is the practice of being with what is, without trying to make anything happen or prevent anything from happening. Being completely available to be devoured by the present moment. It requires a mind that "stays", giving access to a penetrative insight in the essence of who you are.

In our courses you discipline your mind through concentration meditation (chi gnas; calming/staying) and gain insight in the essence of your awareness through special-insight meditation (Tib. lag thong; Skt vipasyanā). Techniques and instructions come from Indo-Tibetan Buddhism (Dzogchen, Mahamudra) and Tantric Shaivism (Trika, Kuala).

In the podcast below you learn more about the difference between meditation and just hanging out on the meditation pillow.

are you meditating
or marinating?

Meditation comes in many colours and shapes. How can you differentiate between true meditation that leads to awakening, and any other practice called meditation that perpetuates our ordinary habitual patterns and has us marinate in our misery, but now intensified on a meditation cushion? That’s the topic of the podcast below. Welcome.

authentic presence

  • intensify life by being aware of death

  • Imagine you are on your death bed. You are terminally ill, and you know you have only one more week to live. Take 5 minutes to really feel this right now.

  • From your death bed, go over your relationships. Is there anything left undone? Take pen and paper and write your answers to the questions below:

    • Are there loved ones you wished you had told more frequently you love them?

    • Are there any conflicts you want to settle or relationships you want to restore before dying?

    • Are there any (old) friends you wished you would had spend more time with?

  • Prepare for dying. You have one week to take action and fulfil your last wishes.

good luck!
