welcome immersioners!

Staying at House of the Beloved is a refreshing immersion in a simple monastic life, with limited private space and personal property.

some more info:

  • The retreats are conducted in silence, except during guided meditations and designated times for feedback or questions.

  • We encourage you to turn off your phone. If needed, you can provide our phone number (+32 493 147189) to an emergency contact. In case of an urgent situation, they should call twice within three minutes to override silent mode. Please inform them that this should be reserved for true emergencies, likely requiring you to leave. If the phone rings—even during meditation—we will answer it.

  • In case you have any practical issues or difficulties finding a parking spot on Friday, please contact Jolanda, Danielle, or Jordi.

  • Sleeping arrangements are in shared spaces (the dojo and a large communal room). Please bring a sleeping bag, a mattress cover, and a pillow. We will provide a mattress. (If this feels too intense for you, you have the option to rent a nearby B&B.)

  • You can bring your own meditation pillow or use one of ours

  • Think about what you really need. Bring only half of it (including a small towel and a note book). You have one cubicle storage (see image below). Anything that doesn’t fit will be immediately listed on eBay. :) Don't bring suitcases.

In case comfort is needed:

  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement and meditation.

  • Dress in layers, as your body temperature may fluctuate during meditation.

  • Optional: Bring warm socks or slippers, as we will not be wearing shoes indoors.

  • If possible, consider taking a rest day after the weekend. The transition back to daily life can feel significant after an intense meditation retreat.

Food and Drinks:

  • Our cuisine is vegetarian and sugar free.

  • In the agreement form (see above) you can indicate your dietary restrictions.

  • The cost of food will be shared among all participants.

  • Water and tea will be provided.

  • Healthy snacks, such as fruit, nuts, and sugar-free cookies, will be available.

  • Meals include dinner on Saturday and brunch on both Saturday and Sunday.

  • We will all share responsibility for setting the table and cleaning up after meals.

  • No eating or drinking during the sessions.
